Timothy J. O’Brien
From the first time he observed an attorney drafting a patent application, Tim has been inspired by intellectual property law.
Tim has extensive experience in patent litigation related to chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology matters. He has worked with a variety of clients, including representing pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation. Thorough attention to detail coupled with a big-picture view of each client’s needs informs Tim’s practice, both in the courtroom and out.
Tim is also experienced in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, patent prosecution, trademarks, trade secrets and unfair competition.
“We get to work at the forefront of technological advancement and the competitive arena of people fighting for ideas and who owns them,” Tim says. “It is extremely rewarding helping our clients reach their business goals in that context.”
“I always try to see things from the perspective of my audience, be it the Court, my client, the opposition, etc., so that I stay focused on the important issues while concisely expressing relevant concepts,” he says. “At Green Griffith, we have a cohesive and dynamic group of attorneys working toward the same goals, all in the service of our clients.”
Prior to joining Green Griffith, Tim was an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP. During law school he served as a judicial extern to the Hon. David G. Bernthal in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
